In the middle of nowhere in Burr Oak, Michigan, tucked among open fields and quiet countryside, there’s a beautiful barn venue called Evergreen Ranch LLC—and on May 3rd, 2025, it became the backdrop for the sweetest, most joy-filled celebration of love: the wedding of Mr. & Mrs. McCann.

From the moment we arrived, there was a sense of excitement and connection that filled the air. My second shooter, Ana, got to the venue around noon and instantly dove into groomsmen getting ready photos—
which, if you’ve ever been around a group of guys before a wedding, you know that means one thing: beer. But not just any beer—it had to be Garage Beer, with a toast to kick off the day!

Abby arrived just a little bit later, and I jumped into photographing her beautiful details. Every piece she picked was intentional and meaningful, especially her dress—a stunning, fitted mermaid gown paired with a cape adorned with bluebirds in honor of her mom. And the surprises didn’t stop there. Abby had planned a dress reveal/first look with her bridesmaids, and not a single one had seen her gown until that moment—it was priceless. She also gave her dad a bluebird pin to wear on his jacket for their emotional first look together. It was such a touching moment and one I’ll never forget.

Once Abby and Nathan shared their own first look, they exchanged private vows with each other. Let me tell you—these two are some of the kindest, most heartfelt people I’ve had the honor of photographing. Their words to each other were filled with love, gratitude, and that kind of once-in-a-lifetime devotion that you can feel deep in your soul.

Their bridal party? Absolutely amazing. It was made up entirely of family and a few best friends who are basically family, and they brought all the energy—love, laughter, support, and a healthy dose of party spirit.

The sun stuck around for most of our portrait time, but just as we headed into the ceremony, the clouds rolled in to create the dreamiest light. It was seriously perfect. Their ceremony was heartfelt and filled with love, surrounded by such an incredible community of family and friends. We had so many family photos to take afterwards, and I absolutely loved it—it’s always such a joy to see just how cherished a couple is by those around them.

Even with all the love and activity, Abby and Nathan were still able to enjoy some of their cocktail hour together (something I always recommend when the timeline allows!). Then, it was time to kick off the reception—and what an entrance it was! Abby and Nathan had custom golf towels made that said “McCann Wedding” on them, and as they entered, guests waved them in the air to celebrate. It was such a fun and unique moment that set the tone for the evening. After that, they shared their first dance, followed by emotional parent dances—yes, there were tears, and yes I was behind the camera tearing up too.

We ended the evening with the most stunning golden hour, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect ending to a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
